AMERICAN DREAMERS BY LIA ROMEO

In May 2018, West of 10th collaborated with Lia Romeo on a developmental workshop of American Dreamers ahead of our August 2018 production. In American Dreamers, it's November of 2016. Becca Barrington has just graduated from college, and since then she's been dumped by her boyfriend, rejected by every grad school she applied to, and ended up at a dead-end job in the town where she grew up. To pay off six-figure student loans, she decides to try working as an escort... but her first client turns out to be a mortifying surprise. But at least we're about to elect the first woman president... right?

REUNION BY CARY GITTER

West of 10th produced two stages of development for our first commissioned play, Cary Gitter's Reunion, in February and June 2019. In February, the cast worked with Cary and director Lily Riopelle to refine the script and presented an informal reading for a small audience. In June, we presented a staged reading as Reunion's first public performance.

In Reunion, it’s the 10th reunion of the River Hill High Class of ’08, and everyone’s gathering at the old American Legion Hall in the tiny town of River Hill, NJ. How’re people doing? Well, Sarah’s already divorced. Adam’s a failure. Melissa’s a TV star. Pete’s dead. And Katie’s just really excited to be hosting. Will former crushes fall in love? Will friendships stand the test of time? Will life start to make any sense? Reunion is an ensemble comedy-drama about a group of classmates getting together to figure out how far they’ve come since high school—and how far they still have to go.

AFTER DAD BY CARY GITTER

On Monday July 31st, West of 10th produced a workshop presentation of After Dad, a new play by Cary Gitter. After Dad asks: what do you do when your dad suddenly dies? If you're Jewish, you go home for shiva—seven days of ritual mourning. So Cammy's back from New York City and living in Jersey for a week. And her mom, her childhood BFF, her high school crush, and the rabbi are all there waiting for her. Not to mention the sexy Jersey Bro invading her dreams. Will she make it out alive? After Dad is a raw, raunchy comedy about grief, coming home, and figuring out how to live your life after you lose the person you loved most.
